Abstract

Malignant neoplasms are the leading cause of death in Japan; among these neoplasms, lung cancer is a leading cause of death for both men and women. Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) in particular produces distant metastasis early on 1), and the condition must sometimes be treated as a systemic illness. The form of treatment and anticancer agents used must be chosen in light of the fact that there may be numerous such metastases in some cases. We encountered a case where paclitaxel (PTX) was the agent of choice, so this case is described here along with a review of the literature.
