Abstract
We propose a synchronization-error-control scheme by using modulation codes. The purpose of our proposed scheme is not to correct insertion/deletion errors that cause burst errors called a synchronization error but to separate received words from received sequences correctly even if some insertion/deletion errors occur in a channel. In order to separate received words from received sequences correctly, we use modulation codes called weight and runlength limited (WRLL) codes. We show an algorithm for separating received words from received sequences with WRLL codes. We also show a construction of WRLL codes. We compare our proposed scheme with a conventional scheme with respect to the rate of erasures caused by insertion/deletion errors. Our proposed scheme can lower the rate of erasures about by 1/10 of conventional systems.
