Abstract
In this letter, a simplified trellis diagram for the simple partial erasure model introduced by Lee, Yamauchi, and Cioffl is presented. This new trellis has fewer states, fewer branches, and a smaller radix than the aforementioned. Based on this trellis, conventional Viterbi decoding achieves maximum likelihood sequence detection.
