Abstract

CT colonography (CTC) is a simple and objective colorectal examination which can be performed with minimal invasion. The public health insurance has started covering CTC since January, 2012. Japan is one of the developed countries possessing advanced CT equipments broadly, and CTC is expected to spread quickly across the country. CTC is a useful colorectal examination with a lot of potential for further development, but not a panacea. We need to understand the indication, techniques, complications, radiation exposure, accuracy, and limitations of CTC to use it correctly.
