Abstract

A 26-year-old male presented with a fever of 38°C for about a week. When blood was taken, liver dysfunction was noted, but hepatitis virus markers were all negative. Salmonella Paratyphi A was detected in blood cultures on admission, and the patient was diagnosed as having a paratyphoid fever presenting with early onset sepsis-associated liver injury. Prognosis of early onset sepsis-associated liver injury is poor, prompt diagnosis and treatment should be performed.
